THE NATIONAL HEALTH RECORD
The vital signs. The north stars. The lives behind the numbers.
Zero suicide deaths. No household without food or a safe home. Longer, healthier lives. Every chart now shows its north star—and the limits of the measure.
No fixed biological ceiling or universal lifespan is asserted. Healthy years and mortality disparities matter alongside this average.

This signal matters, but there is no verified conversion here from its change to deaths avoided or suffering relieved. That needs matched population data and evidence about the intervention.
59 indicators across 8 systems · a north star for every chart
Change uses each series’ previous observation—not a common time window. Rising does not always mean improving.

59 charts are a starting record—not “every meaningful measure.” National averages do not show who is being left behind. Missing measures are named below, not filled with invented data.
Suicide deaths ↗Drug overdose deaths ↗Adults with serious suicidal thoughts ↗Adults reporting a suicide attempt ↗Homicide deaths ↗Road-traffic deaths (FARS) ↗
Still neededAge-specific years of life lost, veteran and state mortality, loneliness, disability-adjusted life years, treatment access, and validated intervention effects.
Explore the responsible source ↗Poverty estimate (SAIPE) ↗Real median household income ↗Household food insecurity ↗Very low household food security ↗People experiencing homelessness ↗Cost-burdened renter households ↗People uninsured all year ↗
Still neededRent-burden history, eviction, household debt stress, medical debt, wealth by demographic group, and the Supplemental Poverty Measure. Homeownership is not housing affordability.
Explore the responsible source ↗Prime-age employment ↗Youth outside work, education & training ↗Upper-secondary education attainment ↗Bachelor’s degree or higher ↗Fourth graders below NAEP Basic reading ↗Internet use ↗
Still neededReading history, numeracy, adult literacy, school attendance, mobility, broadband affordability, and disability access. A degree is not a learning assessment.
Explore the responsible source ↗Life expectancy ↗Infant mortality ↗Maternal mortality ↗Premature chronic-disease mortality ↗Diabetes prevalence ↗Current tobacco use ↗Childhood DPT immunization ↗Childhood stunting ↗
Still neededHealthy life expectancy, care waiting times, avoidable hospitalizations, chronic pain, and morbidity disparities. Spending is not quality.
Explore the responsible source ↗Fine-particle air pollution ↗CO₂ emissions per person ↗Safely managed drinking water ↗Safely managed sanitation ↗Forest coverage ↗Renewable energy share ↗Renewable electricity share ↗
Still neededAll greenhouse gases, biodiversity, heat deaths, disaster losses, contaminated sites, grid reliability, and local exposure hotspots.
Explore the responsible source ↗Reported presidential voter turnout ↗Federal debt ↗Federal budget balance ↗Federal receipts ↗Federal outlays ↗
Still neededService delivery, procurement performance, public trust, civil rights, incarceration, participation between elections, and independently substantiated corruption. Spending is not fraud.
Explore the responsible source ↗Not all conditions are measured annually, and not all good outcomes have a defensible numeric target. Next priorities: demographic and state breakdowns, actual learning outcomes, affordability, healthy years, and public-service results. The linked official dashboards already provide additional coverage.

This is a public-interest statistical dashboard, not a clinical diagnosis, official government product, or complete measure of national wellbeing.
Download all observations & north stars ↓Download definitions, goals & provenance (JSON) ↗Public-resource desk & attribution ↗Agency statistics through FRED and World Bank are joined by reviewed CDC mortality, USDA food-security, HUD housing, Census insurance and turnout, NHTSA traffic, and SAMHSA survey records. Source dates, definitions and limitations stay with each measure. No expert or clinical review is claimed.
The original 31 series were retrieved Oct 4, 2026; the additional 28 were checked 2026-10-06. Reporting periods vary. Every record keeps its retrieval date; a new page date does not make old observations current. Monthly series older than 120 days, quarterly older than 240 days, and annual older than 3 years are flagged from the start of their period.
US House’s north stars are proposed aspirations, not adopted government targets. External benchmarks name their publisher and definition. Numeric references are shown with dashed lines in the same units; contextual measures have no arbitrary quota. Axes include the reference where plotted. “End of 2019” uses the last observation in that year. Missing periods are not interpolated; a lone point is not a trend.
Death scenarios use verified counts—not age-adjusted rates multiplied by population. Life-years depend on your explicit assumption. Hardship stays in its natural units, such as households or adults. Populations overlap and are not added. A completed checklist is not evidence of lives saved: interventions need evaluated effects and real results. See what is still missing.
